Here are Emma's Views on Art
What matters most to me in life is art and expression; whether it be music, visual art, fashion, film, or photography. Art makes so much sense to me and I feel that it is what keeps humanity human. I've been greatly influenced by family, teachers, and my own fervor and passion. I couldn’t picture myself doing anything else in life besides art. Art is something I’ve cherished since I was a child. Although I wasn’t skilled at first, I always knew that I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. I would spend hours drawing pictures for my parents, and I had numerous drawing contests with my friends and cousins. When I got a little older, I used iMovie to create short films for my enjoyment, as well as for specific events. These activities became a template for a more serious pursuit of artistic skill. My family is quite artistic, and they have always encouraged and influenced me to pursue my creative side. My mother was an art director and graphic designer before she had children, and my brother is an incredible and imaginative musician, especially as a guitarist. My father has an aptitude in photography, and enjoys uncommon music. He has an interesting point of view that inspires me. My sophomore art teacher has had the greatest impact on me. She is remarkably talented and has taught me nearly everything I know about art. I wouldn’t be as proficient as I am today if she hadn’t been in my life. The more I practice, the more improvement I see in my art. The desire to improve is what urges me to constantly make strides. It has taught me to fall in love with the process, not the outcome. Art helps people express the range of human emotion; it's what brings beauty and meaning into our lives. Art is the heart and soul of humanity.
