Mr. Felix and family,

Thank you so much for presenting me with this scholarship at the Senior Awards. It was such an honor to receive this scholarship to commemorate your son's memory.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. From one artist to another, I believe that Joshua must have been truly unique. Not many children have the patience to draw everyday. He must have been able to see all the beauty in the world and wanted to show everyone what he saw. He was also lucky to have parents like the two of you that encouraged him to keep drawing. If my parents had never kept encouraging me when I was young, I'm not sure if I will be where I am today.
I will use this scholarship money towards my tuition at VCU. I am going to be doing art foundation this fall. I am not sure what major I am going to pursue yet, as I like every single medium, but it will definitely be something art related.
I hope that your other children will attend Stone Bridge one day. It has a great art program and that school and Mr. Kirk encouraged me to pursue my dreams. It is a beautiful place with kind students and nurturing teachers.
If you would like, maybe you can give me your mailing address, and I can send you some of the cards/postcards that I made. It would also be pretty cool to see some of Joshua's artwork.
Thanks again for everything that you have done.
